The DCFD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums regrets to announce the passing of Piper Tommy Keelan Sr. Tommy was a charter member of the band and a huge part of the Band Family. Tommy was one of our most dedicated members, and traveled 3 hours each way to get to practice. Even at 77 years young he was still marching with the band in parades. The band is heartbroken to say the least, and won't be the same without him.
Tommy retired from the Washington, DC Fire Department as a Lieutenant in 1985 from 32 engine. His son Tommy is still on the job, and is a
Wagon Driver at 16 Engine.
Please keep the Keelan family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the members of the Band, and the DCFD.
It was an honor to march and play beside you Tommy, you'll never be forgotten.
WE LOVE YOU!
