January 20, 2006 Firefighter Michael McMullen of the Salisbury Fire Department was laid to rest at Arlington Nation Cemetery.  He was a Sergeant in the Maryland National Guard deployed to Iraq.  Michael McMullen was seriously injured on December 24, 2005 and was subsequently transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for additional treatment, where he later died on January 10, 2006 of his injuries.  On the day of his funeral he was he led a procession from Salisbury Maryland on top SFD Engine 16-1 to RFK Stadium in Washington DC. He entered RFK Stadium and past under the American Flag draped from two arched ladder trucks. He was then transferred to a hearse for his final ride to Arlington National Cemetery (as strict Arlington Protocol requires).  Members of DCFD assisted by holding a small ceremony with the band piping "Going Home" during the transfer.  The members of the band feel a great honor to be able to provide this service for Firefighter Michael McMullen, his family and his friends. Thank you Michael for you duty to your community and country, rest in peace and your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
