DCFD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums 5th
Year Anniversary. This year marks the 5th year anniversary of the DCFD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. Who could have imagined five years ago that we would have a band of 40 members and has performed on Capital Hill, marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin Ireland, and helped mark the 5th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at the Pentagon. The Members of the band would like to say thank you to all who have supported us. Also, thanks go to our instructors Mark O'Donnell and Tommy Hayden. A special thanks goes to Father Rosensteel Knights of Columbus who provided us with a home.

During the past year two members of the band retired, Joe Healey (tenor drummer) and Art Murry (piper) both are charter members of the band, both are also retired from DCFD. Joe was appointed to Engine 3 August 26, 1965 and retired from the department as the Tillermen at Truck 9, August 26, 1990. Art was appointed to Engine 2, June 24, 1955 and retired from the department as a lieutenant from Engine 30, October 1, 1979. Both are long time active members of the Emerald Society and when the band was formed five years ago both joined. The members of the band would like to say thank you for your hard work and dedication to the band.
